Everton Vs Liverpool 202021

Merseyside Derby Ends in Thrilling 2-2 Draw

Late Calvert-Lewin Goal Rescues Point for 10-Man Everton

In a pulsating Merseyside derby, Everton fought back twice to earn a hard-fought 2-2 draw at home to Liverpool, despite playing with 10 men for much of the game. Dominic Calvert-Lewin's late equalizer secured a share of the spoils for the Toffees, who had fallen behind to goals from Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.

Evans Sent Off, Everton Batalled

The game turned on its head in the first half when Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite was sent off for a reckless challenge on Diogo Jota. Despite the setback, Everton showed incredible resilience and managed to level the score through Neal Maupay's header just before halftime.

Salah's Double Gives Liverpool the Advantage

Liverpool regained the lead early in the second half when Salah tapped home a rebound from a Darwin Nunez shot. The Egyptian forward then doubled his tally with a stunning free-kick that curled into the top corner. However, Everton refused to give up and continued to press forward.

Calvert-Lewin's Late Heroics

With just over 10 minutes remaining, Calvert-Lewin rose highest to meet a cross from Anthony Gordon and head the ball past Alisson Becker for the equalizer. The goal sparked wild celebrations from the Everton supporters as they snatched a dramatic late point.

The result means that Liverpool remain in second place in the Premier League table, two points behind leaders Arsenal. Everton, meanwhile, move up to 12th place, just four points above the relegation zone.
